Age groups are organised on school years with the 31st August being the cut-off point.
Generally the FA allows a child to play up a year however there are some exceptions to this rule:
1. No child is allowed to play a competitive match until they have reached their 6th birthday. 2. At U9 a child must be 8 years old on 31st August. 3. At U11, and only if player 11v11, a child must be 10 years old on 31st August.
